2019 Shortlist

Henrietta joined The Crown Estate, a £13bn specialist real estate business, in May 2016 as Health, Safety and Environmental Business Partner, where she is responsible for its Regional and Development portfolios.

She started her career in construction health and safety on the Terminal 5 major construction project, working for Balfour Beatty Construction, and became a chartered member of IOSH during her time there. She provided health, safety and environmental (HSE) support to a range of new build, refurbishment and demolition projects including commercial property, schools and hospitals across the south east.

Henrietta moved client side to work for Land Securities as Health and Safety Manager in 2012 as she wanted to expand her knowledge of CDM from a developer perspective and gain experience in commercial and residential property health and safety.

After four years, she then identified an opportunity to further diversify her health, safety and environmental knowledge at The Crown Estate, which manages a £13 billion portfolio focused on commercial real estate in Central London, regional retail and offshore wind.

In this role, Henrietta provided H&S support to the rural, coastal, and energy, minerals infrastructure portfolios in Scotland, until these assets were devolved to Scottish ministers in April 2017. This work included supporting the lease application process for offshore renewable energy developers and identifying opportunities to enhance our HSE management of managing agents.

She also supports The Crown Estate’s development activity across the U.K., as well as across its Regional portfolio, comprised of 15 regional retail parks, three shopping centres and one leisure destination.

Across these areas of responsibility, Henrietta takes a strategic view, looking at how HSE can be managed effectively and identifying risk management opportunities to enhance The Crown Estate’s approach.

Since joining The Crown Estate, she has is also involved in a number of internal projects, including designing a new wellbeing strategy for the business.
