The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) envisions a world where apparel, footwear and textiles are produced with no unnecessary harm to the environment and a positive impact on the people associated with the industry. With combined revenues of $500 billion, the members of the Coalition have the ability to make a significant impact on the industry - key to this is the continued growth of the membership base - this is where you come in.

The SAC needs a Director of Business Development & Stakeholder Engagement to continue to drive new members to the organization, as well as ensuring that the coalition is partnering with the right NGOs, farmer co-operatives etc. You will manage a team of two (one in Europe, one in the US) and guarantee that the SAC is engaging with all actors (both public and private) work together to deliver the transformation that the industry needs.

At the SAC, You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Defining the SAC global Business Development strategy and implementing it in collaboration with the membership team and the Customer Success team of Higg Co

  • Identifying major opportunities (sector, geographies) and creating appropriate engagement strategies to expand the membership within the sector and in other adjacent sectors

  • Managing the Business Development staff in EMEA and AMERICAS

  • Positioning SAC and the Higg Suite of tools as the key technical solution in external engagement in the European Union, Americas, China, and manufacturing countries

You Will Demonstrate:

  • Significant accomplishments and advancement in Business Development, Stakeholder Engagement or Public Affairs in sustainability matters

  • An understanding of the apparel industry would be highly desirable

  • Experience of managing and developing a remote team

This role can be based from the SAC offices in Amsterdam, but flexible/remote working will be offered for candidates unable to relocate.
