Building on their roots as an American company, our client's products are today manufactured and sold globally. Production is centered in company-owned factories in the U.S. and Mexico, and in a network of supplier and licensee factories around the world.

The primary purpose of this role is to manage the strategic goals and projects of the social compliance department in support of the business' mission to serve and protect the hardworking people who make their products.

This role specifically requires building relationships with internal and external business partners to ensure their mission is executed at the factory level. The role has specific responsibilities related to implementing and monitoring international human rights standards and local labor/environmental laws at the factory level.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with and supporting department leaders in the implementation of social compliance strategies and projects according to specific objectives and measurements

  • Conducting onsite verification assessments within US, Central America and other locations for direct, licensee, promotional products and raw material suppliers, including writing reports, making recommendations and managing corrective action plans.

  • Monitoring, summarizing and making recommendations on interpretation and enforcement of human rights, labor and environmental laws and regulations within specific countries

  • Collaborating with Sourcing, Product Development and other business partners to analyze and manage lists of factories.

  • Coaching, mentoring and developing social compliance specialist

  • Problem solving and communicating with peers and leadership within the department as well as other business partners to ensure efficient resolution of issues.

  • Maintaining knowledge of emerging social compliance trends and making recommendations based on industry trends to senior leadership.

  • Leading the implementation and management of the SMETA certification for factories in the US and Mexico.

  • Representing the company in appropriate industry associations focused on social compliance.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in social compliance or corporate social responsibility.

  • Preferred supervisory experience of 1-2 years.

  • Required auditor experience in conducting social compliance factory audits.

  • Knowledge of International labor standards and compliance programs

  • Bachelor's Degree Required in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability or Related Field

  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
