A truly unique and historic governing body in the heart of London is looking for a Climate Action Director to lead its climate and net zero strategy. This organisation is well underway in its journey to net zero, and you will be fundamental in driving the climate agenda, leading a team to decarbonise its asset and investment portfolio over the coming months and years.

As the Climate Action Director, you will:

  • Be responsible for the strategic management of the Climate Action Strategy, building excellent relationships with external and internal partners to deliver key arms of the strategy

  • Provide strategic leadership and strong management of the Climate Action programme office to ensure that the strategy is being delivered in the most effective and efficient manner possible

  • Embed climate impact as a key driver in all the organisations' processes and procedures, both for explicit strategic objectives and decisions that sit outside the strategy

  • Deliver net zero across the organisation's own operations by 2027

  • Sit on the board of trustees of an associated charity partner, alongside the Governor of the Bank of England

This is an impact-orientated role with a significant budget to innovate and try new solutions to some of our trickiest climate issues. Sitting within the Innovation and Growth Department, which leads on key themes such as sustainable and green finance and UK competitiveness, you will be surrounded by colleagues who are leading on cutting-edge innovation and delivering impact at scale.

In order to succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive climate-focused leadership experience in a large, complex organisation

  • Previous experience delivering and implementing a decarbonisation strategy

  • A combination of technical subject matter expertise and leadership skills, which you use to create a concise and compelling narrative around the climate action strategy

  • A desire to do well and do the right thing; you are motivated and thrive in an environment with different disciplines, where you can build strong and successful relationships both internally and externally

Committed to change and managing a sizeable budget, this is an exciting opportunity for a senior climate professional who wants to make a sizeable impact across a diverse portfolio of assets and investments.
