The Earthshot Prize is the most prestigious global environment prize in history, designed to incentivise change and help repair our planet over the next ten years. Since it launched in 2020, its finalists and winners have been among the brightest hopes from around the world for restoring the planet's health for the benefit of people and nature. The Prize works across the for-profit, social enterprise, not-for-profit and government-led solutions.

Beyond receiving financial aid, The Earthshot Prize team continue to work with finalists and winners to mobilise the greatest support possible - financial and strategic - and help these incredible eco-innovators scale their solutions to the point of having a global impact on environmental issues.

The Earthshot Prize is seeking a Climate Impact and Commercial Development Lead who will play a lead role in providing targeted support to help accelerate The Earthshot Prize finalists and winners' efforts to reach scale.

The successful candidate will work directly with a portfolio of eco-innovators to understand and shape their growth plans and seek opportunities to accelerate their impact. Key to success in the role will be using the 'The Earthshot Prize’s' network of partners such as Greenpeace, Deloitte, Blomberg foundation, WEF, Breakthrough Energy, Walton Foundation, Hitachi, Microsoft, Unilever (full list here) to make those plans a reality.

Additionally, the Climate Impact and Commercial Development Lead will cultivate a network of relationships with a wider universe of corporates, investors, and funders who will be instrumental in helping our eco-innovators scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding finalists' solutions and existing growth strategies and business plans to inform and diagnose commercial opportunities and incubation support needed

  • Identify creative solutions and opportunities (financial, operational and strategic) that enable eco-innovators to scale up

  • Build a solid community of support for each finalist by leveraging existing Earthshot Prize partners and stakeholders

  • Develop long term relationships with ESP eco-innovators and foster a community of Earthshot Prize Alumni

Experience Sought:

  • Experience in business development, strategic partnerships, start-up accelerator or incubator, venture firm/studio, or start-up focused on sales growth.

  • Demonstrated involvement with understanding and supporting start-ups and/or early-stage (social) enterprises. Experience in working with founders and investors and have a core understanding of what it takes to scale.

  • Understanding of climate change and sustainability issues and the role that innovative ventures can play in accelerating progress toward climate change targets

  • Excellent communicator and agile in approach; appreciating that our eco-innovators rely on your support in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous world

  • You are analytical and questioning with exceptional attention to detail; problem-solving is completed by taking a thorough, methodical approach

  • Experience working with our wider stakeholder groups would be a bonus: NGOs, Large Businesses, Philanthropists, Government entities and VVIPs
