We are working with a leading Global Asset Manager as they seek to grow their investment strategy & research team with the addition of a Climate Investing Lead who will lead the further development of the firm's climate assessment capabilities, sharing the supervision of a team comprising data scientists, economists and climate specialists.

Our client has developed market-leading capabilities to assess the alignment of investments and portfolios to the climate transition. This has included the development of proprietary "implied temperature rise" metrics, enabling investment teams to assess the expected emissions trajectories of investments and their alignment to the objectives of the Paris Agreement. The firm's climate capabilities cover transition & physical risks and are being expanded with the means to quantify financial impact from a risk and return perspective.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the further development of the firm's temperature alignment metric, ensuring its increasing sophistication, accuracy and reliability.

  • Lead the development of capabilities to quantify the impact of transitional, physical and liability risks on financial risk and return at an investment and portfolio level.

  • Take a leading role in developing new climate-aligned investment strategies, including high-conviction and diversified strategies, as well as custom mandates.

  • Drive outreach and engagement related to climate investing and portfolio assessment capabilities with relevant stakeholders, such as the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), the Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (IIGCC), the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Climate Action 100+ and others.

  • Support the Head of Sustainability Research, the Group Head of Sustainable Investing and sales staff, in client interactions and the development of climate-related products and investment solutions

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable Climate Risk modelling experience within, or for, a financial services institution, with specific knowledge of temperature alignment models/Implied temperature rise metrics.

  • Quantitative orientation, with strong numerical, analytical and Excel skills.

  • Detailed understanding of financial theory, financial statements and modelling practice.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think clearly under pressure.

  • Exceptional academics preferably in a Mathematical/Scientific/Economic area of study.

This is a key position, in a growth area within the firm and industry, that will support the range of sustainable thematic public and private market funds that our client currently offers and future product launches.
