Are you a seasoned communications professional looking to make a real impact in the fight against climate change? The Executive Secretariat for the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market is seeking a strategic and visionary leader to head up our communications and public affairs function as Director of Communications.
As the face of the ICVCM, you will be responsible for raising awareness and communicating the critical work of our organization to the world. You will lead the development of an overarching narrative, as well as a comprehensive strategic communications and engagement plan, leveraging the power of our Board and Expert Panel members. Collaboration is key in this role, as you work hand-in-hand with industry and government leaders to generate meaningful events, announcements, and content for our website and social channels. You will lead a small team of consultants and in-house staff, building brand recognition and driving meaningful engagement with key stakeholders across all sectors.
The ideal candidate will be a politically savvy and accomplished leader with a deep understanding of how to leverage the power of communications to drive organizational objectives. You must also be an excellent communicator with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. A track record of delivering results and a strong commitment to the cause are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with senior leadership to develop ICVCM's overarching narrative and communications approach
Provide effective management and leadership to the communications function
Develop relationships with key partners and organizations to ensure a well-resourced communications and public affairs function
Develop and deliver multi-faceted campaigns that engage key stakeholders
Build coalitions and inspire confidence at all levels
Have significant knowledge of marketing and communications best practices, including crisis communications and issues management
Manage a roster of senior spokespeople and advocates
Requirements:
Relevant degree or equivalent experience in a corporate setting
Proven experience leading and building a communications and public affairs function
Experience developing complex, sector-focused communication and marketing campaigns
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with senior-level officials and influencers
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong project management and organizational skills
Desirable Experience:
Experience in sustainable finance or carbon markets
Experience running a small team and working with external consultants
Crisis communications and risk management experience
Experience running communications across a range of stakeholders
Small-business/start-up experience
