Help Change the World

This is a unique opportunity for you to bring your excellent contacts within the business world to help reach the vision of a green and thriving planet on which everyone can live happy and healthy lives.

Global Action Plan (GAP) is an innovative, agile, and above all, compassionate organisation that aims to live its values and seek to have a clear, positive impact. Established in 1993, GAP spent 20 years developing and delivering award-winning mass behavioural change programmes and has helped transform some of the world's largest companies. We now focus on change at the systems level.

In recent years, they have:

  • Established Clean Air Day as the UK's biggest air pollution campaign, which has led to a massive increase in the proportion of people aware of the air pollution problem and what changes are needed.

  • Delivered the Clean Van Commitment initiative, which secured commitments from Tesco and 40 other van fleets and that will see electric van numbers increase ten-fold by 2028.

  • Been campaigning to end surveillance advertising online aimed at kids, which has provided a roadmap for policy change and strengthened cross-party resolve for regulation as the Online Safety Bill begins its passage through Parliament.

  • Pioneered new approaches to engaging young people in environmental action based on cutting-edge values research.

The aim of this role is to develop ambitious partnerships with progressive businesses, to co-create or fund provocative campaigns, ground-breaking research and life-changing, environment-saving programmes that:

  1. Challenge the drivers of unsustainable practice.

  2. Promote narratives and visions of a happier, healthier, more sustainable world.

  3. Build tools, mechanisms and movements that have a measurable impact.

They are looking for someone to lead this area for GAP who is ambitious and driven by a vision of a happier, healthier world and who thrives on building business relationships and raising income.

They are looking for someone to help grow, deepen and strengthen how they engage with corporates - right from how they identify prospects through to how they build and nurture relationships, co-develop propositions and agree on KPIs, budgets and contracts.

They need someone comfortable having challenging but compassionate and positive discussions with business leaders who thrives on sales but understands the direction in which business must move in the current crises of human and ecological health.

This post holder will have access to and the support of GAP's CEO, will work alongside its senior leaders, and must help us deliver on income targets within the first few months. They must also help build relationships that get corporates to think bigger, more urgently and more deeply about the challenges that humanity faces, and that lead to truly ambitious and exciting, world-saving programmes.

You'll be intrinsically motivated, big picture thinking, creative/entrepreneurial, optimistic, and a great networker.

You'll demonstrate:

Strong, compassionate leadership

The conviction, confidence and passion to inspire corporates with the need for radical - not incremental - change.

A love of relationship building and sales

Excellence and enjoyment in building trust and strong working relationships with corporate leaders, influencers and donors, with a clear sales edge.

An engaging communication style

Ability to clearly and compellingly communicate messages to a diverse range of audiences, especially senior decision-makers, donors and funders

Excellent writing and pitching skills

Skilled in developing and presenting powerful funding calls and in writing clear and compelling funding proposals

Creative development

The ability to co-create concepts and ambitions with partners and then programmes of work to achieve them

An empowering management style

Coaching and collaborative team management style. Ability to co-create with and motivate team members, whether direct reports or volunteers

Partnerships with businesses have always been at the heart of GAP's theory of change. They have several existing high-profile, multi-year corporate partnerships (Boehringer Ingelheim, Unilever, BlueAir) and a good track record of delivering national and international programmes funded by corporate partners.

But to GAP, their corporate partnership is about much more than funding. They are about changing the way businesses operate, creating value and improving the health and wellbeing of people and the planet.
