Royal DSM is a global, purpose-led, science-based company active in Nutrition, Health, and Sustainable Living. Their purpose is to create brighter lives for all, ranging from products and solutions that address some of the world's biggest challenges while simultaneously creating economic, environmental, and societal value for all its stakeholders - customers, employees, shareholders, and society at large.

As the world's demand for protein continues to grow, so does the amount of methane emitted by cows. DSM has developed an innovation that, when added to dairy cattle feed, reduces methane emissions by 30% . Bovaer® is a feed additive researched and developed for over 10 years and has recently been through a series of trials and registration across the targeted regions. It is currently getting ready for its launching and commercialisation by the end of 2021.

As it is proven that the additive leads to an immediate impact on Climate Action, DSM is looking at the opportunity of enabling the reward and recognition of every individual farmer for their sustainability contributions by accrediting such carbon footprint reduction in the Carbon Markets.

In light of this, DSM is looking for an entrepreneurial professional with considerable experience in the Carbon Markets, to lead, design, support and implement the development of new business models linked to carbon credit markets, based on reductions in agricultural greenhouse gas emissions commencing with methane.

Your Accountabilities:

  • Create business models linked to carbon market, which create pull and sales for new products like methane inhibitors.

    • Monitor and understand carbon markets, particularly as they relate to agricultural and methane emissions globally

    • Identify opportunities for farmers to tap into the domestic or international carbon credit market

    • Build and maintain expertise in methodologies and tools to monitor and quantify emissions.

    • Register and include products like Bovaer® in domestic and international inventory and carbon standards

    • Build the infrastructure and relations to monetize reductions in methane emissions through carbon credit markets

  • Be a thought leader to dairy & beef companies, retailers, and governments in the domain of agricultural methane emission reductions and their monetization

  • Connect and work with carbon credit agencies, traders, scientific community, and governments globally

  • Collaborate with internal functions such as ruminants marketing, sustainability, legal and finance to deliver new business models.

Your Competences:

  • 5+ years working with GHG emission reductions (recognized carbon standards, carbon credit trading, ETS market, policy making etc.)

  • Academic background in Agronomy, Business, Economy, Finance, or other relevant field of study.

  • Experience within the agricultural sector and/or a consulting background is a big plus

  • Ability to connect trends, identify and capture opportunities in a rapidly changing landscape

  • Project management capabilities

  • Self-propelling / independent in establishing and maintaining senior relationships in the industry, at NGO and government level

  • Bring a start-up mentality, act entrepreneurial, be creative and hands-on and shape the opportunity
