Director of Business Development Overview

Growing rePurpose Global's community of enterprise CPG brand partners to initiate and nurture a "flywheel effect" that will accelerate the impact.

As a rapidly growing, VC-backed social enterprise, they are seeking a full-time Director of Business Development to strategize, and spearhead the business development vertical and cement rePurpose Global as a leading sustainability solutions provider for the CPG industry. This is a pivotal role at rePurpose Global, working directly with key members of the team - CEO, Svanika Balasubramanian, VP of Business Development, and Director of Community Engagement to rapidly build the brand as a powerful, global community-led movement for planetary change that every business wants to associate itself with.

You will lead all enterprise sales and partnerships efforts at rePurpose Global, and in this capacity will directly be nurturing relationships with high-impact stakeholders worldwide - from Chief Sustainability/Marketing Officers at Fortune 500 companies to Founders of fast-growing challenger brands. You will lead targeted business development campaigns aimed at established enterprises at the intersections of sustainability, consumer goods, and social impact.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with team leads at rePurpose to define customer acquisition objectives & chart out overall enterprise sales strategy for engaging large CPG brands across the BD pipeline

  2. Nurture and close strategic enterprise business opportunities as well as growing existing key enterprise accounts with an array of leading brands including Colgate, Bentley, Estée Lauder, Vita Coco & The Hut Group

  3. Establish trusted relationships with high-level decision makers (CEOs, CMOs, and CSOs) as rePurpose's ambassador at target enterprise accounts (ranging from Fortune 500 brands to ecommerce/offline retailers), global forums and leading industry associations to drive partnerships that can scale the community reach and impact across North America and Europe

  4. Devise analytics systems that measure and predict the quantitative and qualitative impact of BD campaigns on sales leads, conversion, brand equity and revenue forecasts

  5. Help rePurpose stay ahead of the curve by bringing back and sharing the knowledge, trends, and developments from the external ecosystem to internal functional teams to identify opportunities for new product development through customer need-finding

  6. Develop the go-to-market strategy for rePurpose Global's current and future sustainability solutions (Plastic Credits, Plastic Footprint Measurement and Reduction tools, ethical sourcing of PCR plastic for brands)

You are a seasoned business development professional who has mastered the art and science of nurturing relationships through immersive exposure and experience in communicating to a diverse range of audiences across the sustainability sector.

You have strong interpersonal skills, a high degree of resourcefulness and are a great storyteller. You are a confident communicator with strong presentation skills and are adept at developing, maintaining, and improving relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You are culturally aware & sensitive and love a fast-paced startup environment where you can constantly learn, grow and excel in your career.

What They Are Looking For

  • More than 5 years of work experience in B2B business development roles (must-have) with proven track record of closing business opportunities with enterprise accounts

  • Past work experience for relevant sectors (sustainability, social impact, consumer goods, or B2B SaaS) and geographies (North America, Western Europe) strongly preferred

  • Excellent verbal communicator capable of forming and nurturing key relationships with prominent sustainability leaders, international CPG brands, & other relevant stakeholders

  • Proven ability to build empathetic, trusted relationships, both internal and external

  • Strong organizational work ethic and excellent working knowledge of key project management tools such as Salesforce/Hubspot, Notion, Google Analytics

  • Quick learner with the ability to understand and distill down large amounts of technical concepts and information into clear and concise messaging for target audiences

  • Adapt well to the fast-paced dynamic nature of a startup environment, with specific acumens such as rapid prototyping, resourcefulness and creative problem solving

  • Passionate about creating change on the intersection of people, planet, and profit
