We're working with the Responsible Business team at one of the world's leading utilities companies to help them recruit an Environment Manager to join them in the new year on a 12-month fixed term contract.

This role is fully remote with minimal requirements to travel, and offers excellent benefits including a bonus, car allowance, life cover and more.

As a management position within their Responsible Business team, you will lead on the environment management systems including reporting, compliance, validation, training development and delivery.

This role will work on leading on the maintenance of their EMS, and being the lead internal audit process across the business with regards to ISO 14001 requirements. You will play a key role in supporting the management of external audits in relation to the ISO 14001 certifications as well.

Other accountabilities include:

  • Provide business development support as an Environmental SME

  • Lead of development and delivery of IEMA environmental training

  • Leading on trend analysis of environmental KPIs to inform progress of Net Zero milestones

  • Undertaking internal and supply chain audits to ensure and verify environmental compliance

Working in the Responsible Business team, you will primarily engage with the SHEQ leads and external partners in relation to ISO 14001. You will also work with Responsible Business leads in the divisions and other central function stakeholders to refine and define environmental metrics and KPIs set by the division.

Required experience:

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with experience in working across all levels of an organisation.

  • External operation and corporate Environmental Management experience ideally with waste and water, biodiversity, energy management and carbon footprinting (with experience in construction, FM and the energy sector desired)

  • Good knowledge of current energy, carbon, and environmental legislation including requirements related to non-financial reporting (SECR)

  • Experience of leading investigations on significant environmental incidents
