Environmental Lead

Acre is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading property development business to identify their new Environmental Lead. In this newly created role, reporting to the Head of Responsible Business you will play a key role in supporting the business develop and deliver their Responsible Business programme.

The business is looking for an experienced sustainability professional with a strong environmental background across energy, carbon measurement & management, NZC, TCFD, data management systems and biodiversity, ideally with a background from the construction or property development sectors, logistics or home building.

Key accountabilities.

• Provide environmental sustainability expertise and support across the business, working closely with all business units on the delivery of their Responsible Business Ambitions, with innovative thinking and best practice sharing

• Take a lead in ensuring delivery of their Net Zero Carbon and Biodiversity & Sustainable Environment ambitions, setting out the strategic needs, providing guidance, support and engaging closely with the business units

• Take a lead in ensuring the business understands its environmental risks and compliance requirements

• Develop and evolve environmental sustainability KPIs, metrics, and support development of collection systems working with the Business units

• Develop and embed the required policies, processes and procedures to ensure the programme requirements, and risk management are effectively integrated across the business

• Bring forwards new opportunities and innovations on sustainability to promote across the business

This is a unique opportunity for a passionate sustainability practitioner to join a business at a time of growth and change. You will need broad sustainability experience and be able to work with a variety of stakeholders.

You will also have the following:

• Degree/Masters in a relevant subject such as environmental studies, ecology, sustainability, real estate, economics

• Experienced environmental/sustainability professional ideally with a background in the property development sector

• Technical experience in NZC analysis and methodologies, cost benefit analysis of carbon projects,

• Experience and good understanding of biodiversity and net gain requirements, waste, circular economy

• Experienced at implementing environmental management systems; ISO14001 for similar type businesses

• Experience in environmental compliance and legislation, risk management
