Bregal Investments is seeking to hire a Sustainability & Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Associate/Senior Associate. The role will be full-time and based out of the London office.

The Role

This role will require active engagement with Bregal's portfolio companies, particularly with a view to enhance their ESG strategy and execution during the life of the investment.

​

This will involve, amongst other things, working together with Portfolio Company management team to implement annual ESG Roadmap reviews and improvement initiatives, advising the investment team about ESG considerations during the due diligence phase when considering an investment opportunity and assisting with the roll-out of the Bregal Sustainable Development fund, a fund dedicated to providing capital to existing portfolio companies to implement ESG improvement and value creation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the implementation of Bregal's ESG approach and ESG performance reviews

  • Assisting with ESG reviews of existing portfolio companies and defining key data and performance measurement

  • Close engagement with deal teams and portfolio companies to ensure ESG implementation and value creation

  • ESG advice and due diligence coordination for all new deals

Desired Experience:

  • Corporate finance experience, preferably in Strategy Consulting or Investment Banking

  • Experience in managing and executing operational ESG projects from an internal or consulting perspective

  • ESG metrics, data analysis and reporting skills, including technical fluency to analyse financial, operational and ESG performance of companies

  • Sustainability reporting, ESG due diligence and developing measurement frameworks

  • Exposure to carbon footprinting and implementing energy efficiency projects
