Their multi-manager model allows for each business to integrate ESG considerations optimally for their specific asset class and investment style. The organization's businesses have actively integrated ESG factors into investment research and decision-making and have responded to a strong and growing demand from clients to embed considerations of environmental and social sustainability into their investment research and product offering.

We're assisting them as they set out to create a new, firm-wide ESG team that reports to their Global Head of ESG. In recognition of the critical importance of ESG across its client base, the firm has invested in further enriching its ESG expertise, research, analytical capabilities, and industry leadership by creating a new role with a particular focus on climate change policy and solutions, as well as, on data projects. This role will be critical to the growth of their ESG business and platform.

Your Responsibilities/ Impact:

  • Lead research and analysis of policies, regulations, industry initiatives and other external developments relating to climate change with a view to assessing their impact on the firm as a whole and its businesses.

  • Work with the Global Head of ESG and ESG Council members to identify risks and opportunities for their business arising from climate-related policy developments, and develop practical recommendations and solutions to help the firm and its businesses address these.

  • Contribute to the development of capabilities to quantify the impact of transitional, physical and liability risks on financial risk and return at an investment and portfolio level.

  • Contribute to the development of an information and knowledge platform on climate change; develop internal tools for sharing of information and experience as well as recording information on climate-related activities undertaken with the firm.

  • Work with the firm's Operation and Innovation Group and firm-wide businesses on topics related to ESG data and analytics tools, including guiding and supporting the development of data and analytics tools to support the businesses' ESG focused activities.

  • Assist teams in understanding and using ESG data and tools

  • Help identify and review additional data sources and vendors

  • Support the firm's ESG teams objectives by contributing to the following:

  • Analysis of ESG data to support firm-wide ESG reporting and other projects as needed.

  • Industry analysis to benchmark the firm's positioning on ESG and climate relative to competitors and versus client needs

  • Capturing and promoting lessons and good practices to strengthen institutional knowledge and capabilities and foster innovation.

  • Establishing the goals, metrics, reporting and tracking framework that monitors the firm's collective progress on ESG and climate;

  • Generating thought leadership for use by affiliates and their clients;

  • Engaging with corporate ESG and Sustainability committees to ensure the needs of affiliates and clients are embedded into the enterprise approach to climate policies and commitments and to leverage any PFI efforts as appropriate for the firm;

  • Proactively assisting with responding to internal and external ESG and climate-related queries and issues, working with other company functions to communicate the firm's approach to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Responding to industry consultations and representing the company externally where appropriate.

  • Supporting various firm-wide ESG initiatives.

Your Required Skills:

  • A proven interest in sustainability and ESG, with a focus on climate change-related topics

  • Deep understanding of climate science and the low carbon transition

  • Expertise in climate data across carbon footprinting, fossil fuel exposures, transition risks, green revenues, physical risks, climate reporting systems (e.g. TCFD and CDP) and a good understanding of carbon budgets and scenario analysis (e.g. IEA, NGFS)

  • Knowledge of other key ESG themes and a demonstrated ability to quickly increase this

  • Demonstrated ability to think independently and proactively seek practical answers to open-ended questions

  • Advanced data manipulation and Excel skills; experience in working with large datasets

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Collaborative and outcome-focused approach to work

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across functions and businesses

  • Self-motivation, self-reliance and good organizational skills

  • Strong interest in combining policy and strategy focused work with developing practical tools and solutions for investment businesses

  • Strong interpersonal relationship building and influencing skills

Your Desired Skills:

  • Experience working for a financial institution

  • Familiarity with Bloomberg and/or Aladdin

  • Familiarity with ESG data services and metrics

  • Experience building data visualization tools in Tableau

  • Python coding skills

  • Experience within a data-related or quantitative role
