Acre is delighted to partner with Astorg on a retained basis to appoint an ESG Specialist, a newly created position, to join the Paris office. Astorg has six global offices with over twenty nationalities, and offers an entrepreneurial and collegiate culture.

Formed in 1998, Astorg is one of Europe's top private equity firms with €9.3bn of assets under management and portfolio companies spread across Europe and the US within the healthcare, software and manufacturing sectors.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a private equity firm considered to have a best-in-class approach to ESG and responsible investment. In 2021 Astorg announced that all future funds will be Article 8 funds, under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), thereby promoting the environmental and social characteristics of their investments.

You will contribute to Astorg's ESG programme which covers a wide range of challenging sustainability-related projects at company and portfolio company level, including circular economy, climate action and diversity & inclusion.

To enhance ESG performance and value creation, responsibilities include:

  • Assessing the ESG maturity and sustainability risks of potential investments during the due diligence process

  • Supporting portfolio companies on their ESG journey by conducting research, writing guidelines and organizing and preparing training on sustainability topics

  • Reporting on the ESG progress of portfolio companies for investors, at fund level for the PRI and to the European Commission under SFDR requirements

  • Producing marketing material on ESG to support fundraising

  • Working with external consultants and involvement in external industry networks

  • When travel is possible, ad-hoc travel to portfolio companies

Competencies sought:

  • Analytical

  • Influencing, relationship building and communication skills

  • A commercial approach to sustainability in a business context

Experience sought:

  • Sustainability/ESG experience gained in consulting, research or service provider firms or in-house within a large multinational corporate

  • Experience of designing and implementing sustainability action plans and programmes in companies, with a preference for the healthcare, manufacturing, software sectors

  • Experience in producing sustainability reports and/or assessment reports, for example for social or environmental due diligence reports

  • Fluent English language skills. Any French language skills are beneficial.
