Our client is a leading global commodities trader and logistics provider looking to appoint a Group Head of Health, Safety, Security & Environment to develop and elevate their HSSE function.

This person will be in a highly visible role, charged with driving change internally and across the global supply chain, managing HSSE risk and providing functional expertise and leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and updating the HSSE strategy and management framework, ensuring a collective vision that extends beyond systems and compliance and that focuses on people, behaviour and culture

  • Leading and developing a global team to support the achievement of industry-leading HSSE performance

  • Facilitating risk management best practices, learning and knowledge sharing across a diverse portfolio

  • Influencing and empowering operational asset and supply chain leaders to shape and implement robust plans that drive performance improvement

  • Taking ownership and accountability for global emergency response and crisis management

  • Working closely with the Group leadership team to help shape climate change and decarbonisation strategy

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have significant operational experience in one of the following sectors: metals & mineral extraction, oil & energy production, petrochemicals, shipping & logistics, transportation, aviation, power generation or major infrastructure

  • Be a strategic thinker with expertise in building and embedding world-class risk management strategies

  • Demonstrate deep experience in delivering performance improvements, cultural change and enhancing management systems and policies

  • Demonstrate evidence of engaging with key stakeholders at a senior level (including internal management, supply chain and regulators) to achieve desired outcomes

  • Possess cross-functional leadership experience, with the ability to inspire colleagues to take ownership and accountability of risk management performance to ensure a shared journey of success

  • Have an international outlook with experience leading teams across a geographically disparate location
