Global Sustainability Lead

To lead the development and execution of its sustainability strategy, Grünenthal is looking for a Global Sustainability Lead for the head office in Aachen. You'll be working in a team of sustainability and EHS professionals, reporting directly to the global head of EHS & Engineering. You'll be responsible for the E pillar of ESG - this is a role with direct and global impact on the individual production sites, as well as the broader Grunenthal organisation.

Your most important responsibilities will be:

  • Drive and execute a comprehensive multi-year strategy to continue the company's drive towards minimum environmental footprint.

  • Lead annual GHG inventory and E pillar of ESG, corporate responsible reporting, Environment related internal & external communication

  • Develop and/or review quantification approaches that account for GHG emissions reductions or removals in projects. Create synergy and support the Environmental Safety & Health culture.

  • Develop and monitor effective Environmental and Sustainability management strategies, provide recommendations and technical expertise on regulatory compliance

  • Coordinate EHS inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Define Key Performance Measures (KPIs)/targets, identify opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations based on findings.

  • Engage with internal stakeholders and present regular sustainability reports and conduct sustainability assessments.

The ideal candidate has

  • Experience in strategic sustainability management - both in developing and executing a sustainability strategy.

  • Thorough understanding of sustainability within a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of GHG accounting and experience in conducting GHG assessments in an international organisation.

  • Fluency in English, German and Spanish conversational skills are a plus

  • Willingness to travel internationally.
