Acre is delighted to be working with a leading global retailer to source a highly passionate, credible and pragmatic Group Responsible Sourcing Manager, to realise their net-zero deforestation ambitions of forest risk commodities.

With organisational commitment to be an industry leader in tackling deforestation you will work across the business as the subject matter expert to develop and implement commodity strategies that will tackle some of the biggest environmental challenges that face our planet. Additionally, given the globally traded nature of commodities such as palm oil, soy, wood/paper and beef, you will represent the Group to catalyse change with supply chain partners as well as NGO and government stakeholders, driving broader industry transformation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Being the key contact for all technical matters relating to the Responsible Sourcing Forests agenda

  • Continuously reviewing the internal and external environment to develop and implement effective policies and strategies, making progress towards net zero deforestation targets

  • Advocating for effective and practical solutions to end deforestation through industry groups and forums

  • Development and management of internal data management systems for tracking progress against net zero aims, as well as external reporting requirements

  • Managing exciting external partnerships with NGOs and key suppliers.

The successful candidate will have ideally tackled forestry related issues from both corporate (consumer goods/retail/agri) and NGO sides, bringing an ecosystem of stakeholder views and knowledge to the role.

Requirements Include:

  • An in-depth knowledge of the sustainability issues, challenges, opportunities and key stakeholders relating to palm oil, soy, timber products and Brazilian beef.

  • Knowledge of relevant voluntary certification schemes and industry standards (e.g. RSPO, FSC, RTRS).

  • Knowledge of relevant mandatory E.U Regulations

  • Experience with data management and reporting (internal compliance, CDP)

  • The ability to influence stakeholders and situations to achieve desired outcomes

  • Exceptional drive and passion for forest protection coupled with strong business acumen

This is an incredibly exciting role to work for one of the most ambitious retailers tackling forestry related issues, and work within a highly collaborative, ambitious and driven responsible sourcing team. If you have the desire to influence and drive industry transformation around forestry related issues, and have the skills and experience to do this, please apply to register your interest, and we will be in touch.
