Join the Movement for Climate Action with the Integrity Council!

The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market is seeking an experienced Assurance professional to lead our new team in driving a just transition to 1.5ºC. As an independent governance body, the Integrity Council is dedicated to ensuring the voluntary carbon market accelerates this transition.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and managing a process for assessing carbon crediting programs and credit types against our Assessment Framework, providing assurance for the issuance of our CCP labels, and leading the development of our Assurance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of ICVCM's process for assessing carbon crediting programs and credit types

  • Oversee the review of program applications, ensuring sensible prioritization, preparation of high-quality evaluation reports, and an effective internal QA and review process

  • Manage the assessment application platform, working with developers to ensure its efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness

  • Collaborate with the Market Formation team and applicant programs to raise and resolve any issues identified

  • Manage the sign-off process of decisions and rationales, and work with the communications team to prepare publication

  • Coordinate with the technical team to ensure timely provision of draft papers, research, and analysis for expert evaluation

  • Lead assurance for CCP labelling, including process walk-throughs, registry scrutiny, positive/negative confirmation, and resolution of any issues arising

  • Establish systems for ongoing monitoring and oversight of CCP-labelled credits, including spot-checks, auditing, complaints management, and ongoing dialogue with programs

  • Lead and develop the Assurance team, supporting their professional development

  • Remain flexible and willing to support the wider activities of the Integrity Council as required

Essential Qualifications:

  • Extensive professional track record in assessment, assurance, or audit

  • Proven experience as a senior leader, successfully managing and motivating a high-performing team

  • Experience in designing, implementing, and improving assurance systems and processes

  • Strong cross-functional working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Strong track record of producing high-quality reports and securing board-level approval

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in the carbon market and assessing projects and programs against sustainability standards

  • Start-up experience and small team work

  • International experience and cross-agency project
