Contract: This is a full-time, permanent role - open to flexible working or job-share options

This is a pivotal role within the organisation's mission to build an effective social impact investment ecosystem and is at the leading edge of the impact investing movement. You will build and develop Big Society Capital's ability to launch, manage and grow client-facing investment products through effective leadership and product strategy. The overall objective of the role is to build the BSC Social Impact trust, and, in the future, other client products by (i) owning the strategy and plan for growing the Trust and future client products (ii) leading successful day-to-day execution of that strategy and in particular our obligations to partners and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver strategy and plans for individual client products, starting with growing the SBSI investment trust. The Chief Investment Officer will be the lead named Portfolio Manger for SBSI but this post-holder will take a key role in meeting client needs to grow the product successfully

  • Contribute insight, material and expertise to support marketing and fundraising with potential new clients

  • Ensure that BSC meets its obligations to clients and delivery partners for client products, including reporting to investors, to Schroders as AIFIM, the SBSI Board, market communications etc

  • Play a lead role in maintaining and building relationships with clients for SBSI and other client products, with clients such as wealth managers and family offices

  • Take responsibility for leading, supporting and building BSC's client product team and capability, including identifying potential gaps and developing or recruiting staff to meet them

  • Budget planning, team KPIs and reporting to ExCo and board

Experience Sought:

  • Strong professional experience with financial institutions, including experience of private assets. Experience of investment trusts would be an advantage

  • Recent experience of providng excellent client service for investment products, ideally including investment trusts and/or impact investments and with clients relevant to BSC's strategy such as wealth managers and family offices

  • Experience of overseeing and co-ordinating delivery of financial services products with multiple stakeholders

  • Understanding of marketing strategy and fundraising in the context of investment funds

  • Experience leading and managing a high-performing team
