We are seeking maternity cover for the Head of Impact Development at an emerging market private debt investment management group. This interim role will play a crucial role in the development of their impact investing capability, taking on responsibility for implementing the Impact and ESG strategy and measurement framework across the pipeline and portfolio for the Emerging Market Private Debt Impact Fund.

The Fund aims to stimulate sustainable economic growth by extending loans to leading, growth stage businesses in emerging markets who make a measurable contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and operate responsibly. The Impact Thesis of the Fund has been developed using fundamental and data-driven analysis of the key barriers to growth and development in emerging markets. It is rooted in a strong belief that large scale, successful business that can employ people at scale in the formal market and foster positive economic externalities have a crucial role to play in achieving positive social impact.

The Fund has formally incorporated both ESG and Impact due diligence and monitoring into the investment process. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the investment team, focusing on the screening, due diligence and monitoring of investments with regards to ESG and Impact. They will also work closely with the fundraising team to effectively communicate the Impact Thesis to prospective investors.

The investment team is active in sourcing, underwriting, executing and managing private debt transactions across industry sectors with a primary focus on Africa and emerging Asia. The team invests across the capital structure with a primary focus on senior, secured and mezzanine investment structures.

The position is based in London and will be a fixed-term contract of nine months, starting in April/May 2020.
