Acre is retained by one of the world's most successful private equity firms to appoint a Head of Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) to work closely with the EMEA based investment teams.

Spanning a multitude of industry sectors, this is an exciting opportunity to further enhance the strategic advantage of ESG expertise within the business and to create value.

Based from the London office, the remit involves leading on the assessment and management of ESG issues across the investment process, from due diligence to ownership and reporting. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting ESG pre-investment due diligence

  • Engaging with and supporting portfolio companies to advance their ESG performance

  • Working with investment teams in developing ESG-specific improvement plans and metrics (KPIs) to monitor progress

  • Driving forward firmwide sustainable impact initiatives on material issues across the full investment portfolio, specifically around the themes of climate change, diversity & inclusion and human capital

  • Attending investor meetings and contributing to client engagement through fund-level and public reporting on performance, and for example, producing content for fundraising material

  • Internal advancement of ESG through training and delivering presentations on innovation

Skills, knowledge and experience required:

  • Experience of ESG/sustainability gained in a multinational business, consulting or investment context, with the ability to apply experience to drive business performance across multiple industry sectors and geographies

  • Solid influencing, communication and relationship building skills

  • A graduate degree or MBA in a relevant field, with any topic, i.e. sustainable development, social impact or climate change

Advantageous

  • ESG due diligence analysis experience in an investment or M&A context

  • Experience with managing social issues such as supply chain management, labour standards and human rights
