Critical ecosystems on which societies and economies depend are dangerously close to collapse, and yet financial markets are failing to translate these material risks into valuation models. Planet Tracker is a non-profit financial think tank aligning capital markets with planetary boundaries. It was created to investigate the risk of market failure related to environmental limits. This investigation is primarily for the investor community where environmental limits, other than climate change, are poorly understood, even more poorly communicated, and not aligned with investor capital.

We are working with Planet Tracker to identify a highly driven individual with a good working knowledge of the key actors across capital markets to lead their external outreach so that more investors engage with this crucial research.

This position is integral to ensuring that Natural Capital related risks and opportunities are accounted for by a range of stakeholders across the investment chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure delivery of engagement across the investor universe for Planet Tracker.

  • Support the Director of Research and individual Programme Heads in developing Engagement Strategies and working across the organisation, help to operationalise into a programme of activities (e.g. one to one meetings, investor roundtables, webinars and other seminar formats, product launches, speaking and panel slots for various of the team)

  • Directly contact investors with significant interest/exposures in key sectors such as fisheries, land use, plastics, and textiles to disseminate Planet Tracker's research.

  • Set up meetings between investors and Planet Tracker's Programme Heads to facilitate discussions on appropriate ideas and research.

  • Maintain existing, and generate new, relationships with relevant investment professionals globally.

  • Maintain systematic and best-in-class engagement with investors, including overall data entry and management of the CRM system, and provide data and regular reporting on the outreach achieved for the Leadership team.

Experiences Sought:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a financial institution with specific experience in investor relations or another client-facing financial services position.

  • While the primary focus is on equities, some knowledge of the fixed income markets is desirable.

  • A genuine passion for the profit with purpose vision, aligned to Planet Tracker's work and impact.

  • A keen interest in, and ideally, a good understanding of natural capital and in particular why it should be incorporated in investment valuations.

  • Intellectual drive and capacity. Ability to analyse information and present compelling arguments, quickly grasping and effectively communicating concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Central to the role is the ability to effectively communicate with investors and the internal team, across written and verbal mediums. It is critical that you have the capability to communicate with senior executives at asset management firms and corporates (e.g. sustainability officers) in a way that demonstrates an understanding of the strategic imperatives for them.

  • Some public speaking experience is a bonus.
