About Land Life

Land Life is a technology-driven reforestation company with the mission to help restore the world's 2 billion hectares of degraded land. The company plants trees at scale across the globe to kickstart ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. Land Life is an international scale-up based in the Netherlands with projects in the US, Canada, Spain, Australia and other places. In the 2022 planting season, they restored over 15,800 acres (6,400 hectares) of land globally, planting over 6.5 million trees. Land Life was recently selected as one of the Top Innovators for the World Economic Forum Trillion Trees: United States Challenge.

In North America, Land Life collaborates with NGOs; federal, state and local governments; private organizations and communities to restore degraded and disturbed landscapes. They plant trees to enhance biodiversity and conserve iconic wildlife. Their 2022 North American projects are in Colorado, Mexico, and British Columbia, and for 2023, they are looking to expand in the Pacific Northwest and further into the Rocky Mountains and British Columbia.

About the Role

Land Life's restoration work in North America is centered around working with partners to bring nature back to degraded lands. In this role, you will be responsible for large-scale, strategic partnerships with state and federal agencies, large NGOs, and landscape-level coalitions where Land Life can bring expertise and resources to achieve restoration at scale.

The role is based in California, with 1-3 days in the office in Sacramento and the remaining days remote. The role involves frequent travel throughout North America, as well as periodic travel to Amsterdam (HQ). The Head of Partnerships, North America, reports to the Director, North America.

Responsibilities

The Head of Partnerships North America will be responsible for:

Identifying and developing landscape-scale partnerships with state and federal agencies; large NGOs; corporations; or within coalitions that result in reforestation projects of more than 10,000+ acres.

  • Support Land Life North America's strategic growth starting in the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia and the Rocky Mountains (Colorado) and assess opportunities for expansion in other regions or strategic areas.

  • Collaborate with North American and international staff to identify and implement innovative partnerships that achieve large-scale reforestation efforts.

  • Ensure consistent and authentic engagement with current and future partners.

  • Evaluate existing partnerships in order to identify opportunities for improvement and to prioritize partner engagement given limited capacity.

  • Work with Land Life's international Partnership team to ensure North American branch alignment and evolution to achieve ambitious conservation outcomes and growth goals.


Shaping and growing Land Life's niche in the North American market.

  • Work with the Director to more strategically implement existing programs and to develop new partnerships and strategies to meet the North American branch conservation goals and outcomes.

  • Regularly assess new opportunities (geographic, strategic, etc.), helping refine Land Life's business model and ensuring that Land Life is successful at its mission.

  • Monitoring market trends and competitor activities in order to identify potential opportunities for new partnerships.

  • Represent Land Life at conferences and networking events.

  • Develop strategies to increase Land Life's brand awareness and grow a pipeline of interested partners (agencies, landowners, land managers, customers, collaborators) who want to work with land life to achieve nature restoration.

  • Support marketing and communication efforts to promote Land Life.

The following outlines Land Life's target profile; however, we are interested in candidates from a variety of backgrounds who are excited about what Land Life does:

  • 10+ years of professional experience developing and implementing successful landscape scale partnerships to achieve nature restoration or other climate or conservation-related outcomes.

  • Strong networks in state and federal government with a particular focus on Western, Pacific Northwest and Canada; with large NGOs working in the nature restoration space in North America; and/or as part of landscape-level coalitions.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills focused on collaboration, building links and relationships within diverse teams, across the organization and with external partners required.

  • Ability to not only develop authentic partnerships but to follow through to ensure project implementation and success.

  • Able to function well and work autonomously; proactively in a scale-up international company which includes ambiguity and a constantly changing environment and structure.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $160,000 per year. Land Life also offers a competitive benefits package including 20 days vacation, 10 holidays, and continuation of full salary payment during the first 26 weeks of any extended illness. Other benefits include up to 100% of health insurance, a 401K with a 3% contribution from Land Life - no match or vesting required and potential for bonuses.
