Acre is pleased to have been retained by a well-respected, privately-owned international property company to identify their new Health, Safety and Risk Manager. With a track record of over 300 years, they develop, manage and invest with the purpose of improving the property and places to deliver lasting commercial and social benefits.

The purpose of this role is to be the overall competent person and strategic advisor to their UK & Ireland business for health, safety, well-being, and personal security (in an advisory capacity). It is to act as a respected partner and contribute to and continually improve the way they manage risk across their business.

The role plays a critical part in shaping and supporting the management of health, safety, security, and well-being risk. The role helps improve their management of fire, building safety and health and well-being, and contributes to maintaining continual improvement under the group Health and Safety Vision.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as the supplier category manager for all health and safety suppliers and manage key H&S supplier support contracts: including CDM Assurance, Asbestos, Property Risk Management and Mechanical and Electrical Assurance services.

  • Help prepare, and identify internal and external additional support as part of the plans to manage new duties under the Building Safety Bill and Fire Safety Act.

  • Oversee the contract management of specialist security advisors (whilst not necessarily being an expert in security) and input into the development of their approach to improving physical and personal security

  • Engage, communicate, inform and advise all of the Senior Leadership Team, The Executive Team and the Board

  • Work across all parts of the business; Investment, London Estate and Development

  • Co-operate and work with the Director for Health and Safety at the Group level to help promote and deliver their Health and Safety Vision.

This role would suit someone looking to develop and stretch themselves beyond the traditional health and safety remit. You should have a broader interest in risk, welling and security and the ability to converse with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Key requirements:

  • Chartered IOSH for at least five years

  • Professionally qualified in H&S at least to Diploma level

  • Property and Construction experience essential

  • Experience in managing/advising on occupational health, including mental health

  • Ability to travel UK-wide and work from our head offices in Mayfair

  • Self-starter, driven, completer finisher, able to work without needing constant supervision

  • Not traditionally 'safety-minded and able to see the big picture
