The SAC is a global, multi-stakeholder non-profit alliance for the fashion industry. It is made up of over 250 leading apparel, footwear and textile brands, retailers, suppliers, service providers, trade associations, non-profits, NGOs, and academic institutions working to reduce environmental impact and promote social justice throughout the global value chain.

The Sustainable Apparel Coalition's vision is of a global consumer goods industry that gives more than it takes - to the planet and its people.

A radical change of the industry can only happen if all sectors, private and public, work together to make the consumer goods industry truly sustainable, with policymakers, civil society and other stakeholders identifying and recognising the work of the SAC and standardised tools, such as the SAC's Higg Index as robust, credible and trusted solutions to enable transformational change.

SAC is looking for someone responsible for driving growth and value of the suite of product transparency claims supported within the Higg Index. This position is preferably based in India.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use project management skills to drive operational excellence within the Transparency Program workstreams

  • Collaborating with SAC members and ecosystem partners to iterate and evolve the Higg Transparency Program over time

  • Supporting industry stakeholders and SAC ecosystem partners submit and implement data in the Higg Transparency Programs

  • Helping introduce the Higg Transparency Program to the industry

  • Work with SAC's technical partner Higg Co to implement changes and assist with complementary goals, such as tool linking and member engagement

  • Working with the entire Higg Index Team toward achievement of the SAC Strategic Plan

  • Meet with SAC members to explain Higg Transparency Program purpose, value, methodology, data, and use cases

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in the apparel/footwear/home textiles sector, doing specific functions and duties related to the role

  • Experience with consumer-facing sustainability claims from a marketing, legal, and / or technical perspective

  • Organisation, communication, and prioritisation in situations with a large number of actors and significant deadlines

  • Product creation, materials, and supply chain management in apparel, footwear, and broader industries

  • Technology assisted workflows that reduce human effort in business processes - including skills with excel and automation

  • Consumer communication and education - particularly in the sustainability domain

  • Fluent in the English language, verbal and in writing
