Are you an experienced ESG professional looking to make a significant impact in one of the UK's largest long-term savings and retirement businesses?

This is a fantastic and unique opportunity to join as an Interim ESG Sourcing Manager on an initial 6-month contract to support the Operations and Supply Chain function whilst they continue to implement their ESG strategy and build out their team.

The organisation has already rolled out a robust ESG Supply Chain Strategy, which includes:

  • December 2021 published an open letter making its ESG requirements clear. This was an industry first, and the requirements include:

    • SBTi committed carbon reduction target

    • Modern slavery programme, training and disclosure

    • Best practice health and safety standards in specific regions

  • Climate change and modern slavery standards rolled out for key suppliers, covering 80% of the business's spend and suppliers deemed to be at high risk for ESG. This covered approximately 100 suppliers.

  • Independent ESG supply chain risk assessment undertaken in H1 2022. Suppliers deemed to be at high risk for climate change and/or modern slavery will be required to meet the standards. Suppliers will be informed in H2 2022.

  • ESG criteria is being embedded in supplier due diligence and integrated into supplier contract clauses.

The above initiatives require an experienced ESG Sourcing Manager to join the team on an interim basis. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Engagement with suppliers on their ESG strategy and alignment with our client's ESG requirements

  • Internal focus groups and teaching sessions on sustainable procurement

  • Presentations to functional areas and the central sustainability team on ESG supply chain progress

  • Engagement with external partnerships and consultants, including CDP, Sustainable Markets Initiative, ABI, bespoke carbon and human rights consultants

  • Support the development of the Group Modern slavery and human rights strategy

You will be/have:

  • A subject matter expert on ESG

  • Ideally, working knowledge of operations and supply chains

  • Working knowledge of climate change, SBTi targets and climate impacts in supply chains

  • Passion for sustainability and making a real impact
