The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute is looking for an exceptional individual to join their highly dedicated and talented team to accelerate adoption and maximise the impact of the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Products Program across the Built Environment sector in the EMEA region.

Founded in 2010, The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute is a global non-profit dedicated to powering innovation for the circular economy through products that positively impact people and planet. Through the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Products Program, the Institute sets the global standard for products that are safe, circular, and responsibly made. The Institute works closely with leading organisations and stakeholders worldwide to guide and validate their efforts to apply the principles of material health, circular economy, climate protection, water and soil stewardship, and social fairness to product design and manufacturing. The Institute is headquartered in Oakland, California, with an office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

In this role, you will work closely with building product manufacturers and other key-value chain stakeholders to increase awareness of the Cradle to Cradle principles, demand for the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard, as well as adoption and recognition of the Cradle to Cradle certification. As the Built Environment Lead, you will play a leading role in driving the systems change required to accelerate the transition to a circular built environment.

The Institute is seeking a highly motivated, resourceful professional with market transformation and building industry experience to lead efforts to increase sustainability and circularity in building materials, products, and programs across the EMEA region. You will bring a strong knowledge of the building industry, a proven record of effective relationship management and a genuine passion for advancing the Cradle to Cradle principles.

As the Lead, Built Environment - EMEA you will:

  • Develop and implement an effective market development strategy and work plan for the built environment sector across EMEA

  • Serve as relationship manager for leading manufacturers from the built environment sector in the Cradle to Cradle certification holder community in EMEA and act as primary liaison for strategic, technical, and marketing/communication matters.

  • Drive market adoption of Cradle to Cradle Certified to meet or exceed annual sector growth targets

  • Define market needs and priorities and assist with the development of tools and resources that facilitate use and increase the value of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Program

  • Lead alignment and recognition efforts with relevant building programs, defined ESG schemes, and other sectoral frameworks

  • Identify, develop and foster strategic partnerships and engagement formats for key stakeholders in the built environment value chain, including architects, designers, developers/owners, contractors, real estate agencies, and financial institutions

  • Support the Institute's policy work on sustainable construction and buildings under the European Commission's Circular Economy Action Plan

  • Organize and conduct market development workshops, roundtables, and educational programming for building industry and policy stakeholders

  • Represent the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute at building sector meetings and conferences across EMEA

  • Contribute to securing sponsorships and/or grants necessary to deliver sector-specific resources, tools, or events

  • Prepare market briefs, reports, and other sectorial background materials to meet internal and external research and reporting requirements

Your Profile:

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field of study

  • 7+ years related work experience, preferably in consulting and/or market Transformation

  • Strong building industry knowledge/expertise with established sector relationships across the EMEA region

  • Demonstrable knowledge of key sustainability and circularity topics and challenges within the building industry

  • Technical understanding and practical experience with Cradle to Cradle principles Preferred

  • Proven ability to influence and partner with industry leaders and government Representatives

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English, with fluency in at least

  • One additional language required

  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality and original work within a set timeline

  • Self-starter, able to initiate projects and work independently

  • Proven teamwork skills, both as a leader and cross-functional team member
