About Land Life

Land Life is a technology-driven reforestation company with the mission to help restore the world's 2 billion hectares of degraded land. The company plants trees at scale across the globe to kickstart ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. Land Life is an international scale-up based in the Netherlands with projects in the US, Canada, Spain, Australia and other places. In the 2022 planting season, they restored over 15,800 acres (6,400 hectares) of land globally, planting over 6.5 million trees. Land Life was recently selected as one of the Top Innovators for the World Economic Forum Trillion Trees: United States Challenge.

In North America, Land Life collaborates with NGOs; federal, state and local governments; private organizations and communities to restore degraded and disturbed landscapes. They plant trees to enhance biodiversity and conserve iconic wildlife. Their 2022 North American projects are in Colorado, Mexico, and British Columbia, for 2023 they are looking to expand in the Pacific Northwest and further into the Rocky Mountains and British Columbia.

Role

This role is based in Colorado or the Sacramento, CA region with frequent travel, as well as periodic travel to Amsterdam or other international locations. If based in the Sacramento region, the position is a hybrid work schedule with 1-3 days in the office and the remaining days remote. If based in Colorado, the position is fully remote expected to travel to the Sacramento office on a regular basis. The Partnerships Manager reports to the North American Director.

Responsibilities

Land Life is looking for a proactive, well-organized Partnerships manager who identifies, secures and helps implement new land access opportunities for restoration, starting with a focus in the Rocky Mountains, particularly in Colorado. This position will play a critical role in our organization and will be responsible for a key component of Land Life's work - finding degraded land and partners that are interested in working together on nature restoration. This work will include:

  • Identifying and developing partnerships with private landowners, land managers, agencies and NGOs that result in agreements to do reforestation on their lands. This includes initial outreach, agreement negotiation, project management of agreement execution and partner follow-up and reporting.

  • Integrating different perspectives from Land Life's commercial, operational and technology teams to ensure that all parcels identified for reforestation are aligned with Land Life's mission and business model.

  • Growing a robust pipeline of interested partners.

  • Leading contracting by resolving and negotiating partner questions and comments on standard contracts.

  • Identifying opportunities to improve existing processes and improvements.

  • Ensuring progress and budget tracking of projects.

  • Providing data for client deliverables (e.g. customer dashboard, reporting).

  • Works closely with Operations Manager and Regional Implementation partner to collaborate effective project execution in appropriate timelines.

  • Supporting Operations Manager with field implementation of reforestation projects including initial site visits and assessments, supporting partner implementation of reforestation efforts, and monitoring.

  • Represent Land Life at conferences and networking events.

  • Support marketing and communication efforts to promote Land Life.

Profile

The following outlines our target profile; however, we are interested in candidates from a variety of backgrounds who are excited about what we do:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience with demonstrated organizational and people skills.

  • Degree or equivalent experience in forestry, ecology, nature restoration, sustainability.

  • Demonstrated business acumen and experience in customer/partnership-centric roles, e.g. sales & business development, account & contract management, service delivery, strong project management, and experience working with private landowners.

  • Organizational skills to handle multiple projects on tight timelines.

  • Experience and willingness to support restoration implementation including periodic field work, supervising monitoring crews, and interns.

  • Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and ensuring that our work and our organization prioritize and value these principles.

  • Proficiency with Google Earth, QGIS, etc.

  • Fluent in English, with strong writing skills. Fluency in Spanish or other languages is a plus.

  • Able to function well and work autonomously; proactively in a scale-up international company which includes ambiguity and a constantly changing environment and structure.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $65,610 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience. Land Life also offers a competitive benefits package including 20 days vacation, 10 holidays, and continuation of full salary payment during the first 26 weeks of any extended illness. Other benefits include coverage of up to 100% of health insurance, a 401K with 3% contribution from Land Life - no match or vesting required, and potential for bonuses.
