Policy & Sustainability Manager

This organisation, a highly regarded British airline, is searching for a Sustainability Policy and Reporting Manager to join its established team. Working towards their goal of being net zero by 2050, this position will see you not only identifying opportunities in policy that will affect your own organisation but have a significant effect on the aviation industry as a whole.

​

Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, you will play an integral role in helping the business to navigate and shape an increasingly complex sustainable policy landscape.

​

You will also ensure the adoption of new technologies and their applicability in carbon reduction schemes, as well as support the broader sustainability agenda through contributing towards external reporting, data aggregation and analysis.

​

In this role, you will:

• Identify relevant opportunities to help shape aviation-related sustainability policy and industry sector schemes (for example, on new policy frameworks to drive investment into sustainable aviation fuel, Emissions Trading Schemes and CORSIA).

• Produce internal briefs and papers, and contribute to outward sustainability communications, working with the Government Affairs team to secure a change in sustainability related aviation policy and schemes.

• Support the delivery of annual sustainability reporting cycles in accordance with the organisation's objectives and good practice to meet sustainability objectives.

• Build networks with NGOs and other in-sector stakeholders, leading discussions and work together to solve problems.

To excel in the role, you will bring:

• A strategic and analytical mindset - you can look at things holistically and 'join the dots' whilst maintaining high-quality standards in detail.

• Excellent communications skills, particularly written, to draft content for internal reports/position papers, external disclosures, and policy consultation responses.

• Excellent working knowledge of climate change and environmental issues, including policy and regulatory frameworks.

• A good understanding of EU and UK ETS schemes alongside other policy mechanisms.
