Policy Manager

CropLife UK is the voice of the UK plant science industry. Above all, they believe in the essential role of science and innovation in protecting our food, parks, gardens, roads, and railways.

As an established trade association, its members are involved in the development and manufacture of a wide range of crop solutions which are of crucial importance to the cultivation and protection of food crops and also protecting our gardens, infrastructure, and public places. These include the formulation and manufacture of Plant Protection Products (PPPs), biopesticides, agricultural biotechnology and digital and precision agriculture.

Now in a phase of growth and development, you could have the opportunity to join as a Policy Manager to offer your expertise and leadership in policy development and advocacy.

​

You will also be:

• Taking ownership of all policy topics, establishing yourself as a policy expert in the organisation, and developing and implementing CropLife UK's policy activities.

• Delivering policy responses to consultations and inquiries, shaping outcomes for the benefit of members, and placing CropLife UK as a thought leader in this space.

• Invigorating CropLife UK's policy materials and activities to be used and distributed to their members.

• Advising the CEO and Board members on high-level policy topics.

• Ensuring alignment between policy and regulatory positions.

Reporting to the Head of Policy and Public Affairs, you will be working closely with your senior colleagues at CropLife UK as well as the senior representatives from each of the member organisations. You will be considered the glue that will bring the team together on policy matters.

As a policy professional, you will already have:

• Demonstrable expertise and experience in a policy role.

• The ability to speak confidently and authoritatively in front of an audience.

• The ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including senior civil servants and politicians.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Degree level or equivalent education.

• Knowledge of policy issues relevant to the agriculture/horticulture/amenity sectors would be desirable.
