Acre has been engaged by a leading International Finance Institution to identify a Climate Risk specialist to lead the institution's management, reporting and modelling of both physical and transition risk across their global portfolio of interests. In a truly unique role, this individual will leverage their expertise across infrastructure, nuclear, agriculture, SME private equity, forestry and other asset classes as well as influence the deployment of capital as the climate risk specialist.

The successful candidate will:

  • Own all strategy around physical and/or transitional risk and other risks within the development of the bank's TCFD methodology, its roll out across the bank and its ongoing maintenance to ensure successful long term implementation.

  • Translate TCFD and evolving regulatory guidelines into the ongoing operations across the bank, including banking project, investment strategies and others.

  • Lead the initial drafting of the governance documents to ensure Climate Risk Policies responsibilities are properly recorded and approved.

  • They will be responsible for research, analysis, development and roll out of the new set of procedures across the bank and the governance associated with TCFD

Beyond the internal mandate, this individual will be expected to engage with industry bodies, Development Finance partners, Financial Institutions, Consultancies and Academics on the evolution of Climate Risk Management in order to iterate and improve the bank's understanding as well as impact it can drive though collaboration.

The successful candidate will be able to convincingly demonstrate:

  • A significant track record in managing/ advising a financial institution (s) on their physical and/or transition risk profile, as well as remedial actions.

  • Expertise on the TCFD framework, stranded assets and all climate risk considerations.

  • A familiarity of working with NGFS supervisory principals and the ability to advise colleagues on this.

  • Working knowledge of stress testing and applications of regulatory and industry bodies requirements

  • Scenario analysis and/or climate risk modelling capabilities and a high level of carbon accounting experience
