Acre is delighted to partner with Alupro, an industry funded, not-for-profit organisation with thirty years of experience representing the UK's aluminium industry, in their search for a Public Affairs and Sustainability Manager.

Alupro acts as the voice of the industry on issues of government policy and legislative development and impacts; their members comprise multi-national companies (raw material suppliers, packaging converters, brands and recyclers) who are the key players in the aluminium packaging loop.

In this newly created role, you will work closely with the Executive Director, leading Alupro's programme engagement with government at UK regional level across several key workstreams.

In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Representing Alupro and the wider industry at key conferences and events, including public speaking

  • Further developing Alupro's suite of programmes which support local authorities such as MetalMatters

  • Providing technical advice across a range of sustainability challenges, and consulting with members and partners throughout the aluminium value chain on new recycling initiatives

  • Participating in meetings with policy makers and commissioning research as necessary

  • Working with key stakeholders to ensure that aluminium packaging is well positioned in the reform of the Packaging Recovery Note (PRN) system

You will demonstrate:

  • A natural ability to influence decision making and strategic direction at all levels with members and other third-party stakeholders

  • Commercial acumen; capable of identifying growth opportunities, developing new relationships and building upon existing ones

  • A background in sustainability, paired with great communication and engagement skills

  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously underpinned with a track record of impactful programme management

  • Relevant knowledge of the packaging, retail or manufacturing sector would be desirable

This exciting and unique role presents an opportunity for a sustainability practitioner to work with a diverse range of corporate and government stakeholders on programmes which directly impact the future of circular economy.
