Ball Corporation is looking to hire a Recycling Manager to support, develop and enable the sustainability strategy for the North and Central American beverage business. This role will provide technical expertise to enable Ball Corporation to achieve its ambition in; increased recycling rates for aluminum cans, supporting recycling policies and investment in infrastructure at the state and federal level, and helping to enable the preference for infinitely recyclable aluminum with customers and consumers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage Ball's intelligence on recycling rates and other technical information state by state.

  • Develop a plan of opportunities to increase aluminum recycling in the US, especially for cans, cups, and bottles.

  • Model impact of potential recycling legislation at the state level.

  • Support Director of Sustainability and Vice President of Government Relations with detailed policy insights at state and federal level, based on superior knowledge of recycling systems and its politics.

  • Learn best practices in the US, Canada, and globally on recycling policy with a core focus on Deposit Return Systems.

  • Work with Director of Sustainability to help create and support partnerships with key industry and community stakeholders including non-governmental agencies and thought leaders, to communicate beverage can value and develop recycling strategies that protect and strengthen the beverage can's position with customers and consumers.

  • Work with the aluminum industry, waste management sector, and NGOs as a technical expert to elevate aluminum recycling interest and provide industry intelligence.

The successful candidate will have extensive technical expertise in waste management and recycling policy. Working cross-functionally across the business to help shape and extract insights and key learnings related to increasing recycling rates.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Technical experience in waste management, recycling systems or zero-waste initiatives (including but not exclusive to Deposit Return Systems).

  • Understand the general working processes of legislation (federal, state, local levels).

  • Evidence of developing and delivering strategies initiatives through effective project management, policy and research analysis, as well as, stakeholder engagement

  • Highly effective writing, presentation, public speaking, and oral communication skills

  • Must be comfortable to travel (25%)
