You can be a pivotal part of this amazing journey! Maersk is looking for a Senior Energy Transition Manager for the Energy Transition team that will focus on decarbonising their Air Freight business.

More about the role

As a Senior Energy Transition Manager for the Air Freight Business, you will join the Energy Transition Execution team and work closely with the Air Freight business - freight forwarding and Maerk's own aircraft fleet - and Energy Sourcing teams. You will basically be responsible for the overall emission reduction strategy for the Air Freight business, leading the cross-functional development and execution while providing subject matter expertise and driving innovation to decarbonise air freight.

The near-term target is to transport 30% of customers' cargo with Sustainable Aviation Fuel by 2030, and to achieve this, Maerks works closely with stakeholders in other functions such as product, sales, platforms and technology.

You'll be the pivotal point in driving the energy transition and emission reduction in a growing yet highly emission-intensive business, helping to decarbonise in a cost-effective and speedy way.

You will:

  • Prioritize air freight decarbonization levers in line with the overall APMM strategy

  • Develop and update the transition roadmap and strategic narrative, including financial and emission impact

  • Establish transformation and performance metrics and anchor ownership of delivery with functions across Maersk

  • Assess roadmap risks and develop mitigation options

  • Own and drive alignment of sustainable aviation fuel sourcing strategy with product requirements, including volume plans, portfolio of sourcing opportunities and risk management

  • Consolidate knowledge and insights on the sustainable aviation fuel market from different sources, support scouting for opportunities and the establishment of supplier partnerships together with Air Freight product and Energy Markets function

  • Establish and manage deal pipeline together with Energy Markets and coordinate deal execution and potential investment proposals across all Maersk stakeholders

  • Assess innovation in the aviation space and how this can be adopted by thebusiness

  • Prepare and present management reports and drive decision making

  • Support internal communication and training

  • Present Maersk's Air decarbonisation activities in external forums and conferences

  • Be a natural point of contact and sparring partner for Maersk stakeholders on decarbonisation of air freight matters

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have at least 5+ years of experience in air transport, fuel sourcing or development, management consulting or related industries

  • Have a background or developed expertise in aviation decarbonisation and/or sustainable fuels - experience in fuel sourcing is definitely a plus!

  • Have impeccable stakeholder management skills - you can drive decision-making with senior management while managing cross-functional teams at all levels

  • Have program management discipline which is second to none

  • Are structured in your approach to solving problems

  • Have financial acumen and a flair for numbers

  • Have a curious mindset and is eager to create and share knowledge

  • Love a good challenge and handle ambiguity with a smile

  • Are passionate about climate change and reducing CO2 emissions
