Acre is partnering with one of the leading players in the marine industry as they look to recruit an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing practitioner.

The postholder will be responsible for providing professional Health and Safety advice and support to the business, whilst delivering relevant activities that are in line with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategy. They will be responsible for the compliance and management of Health and Safety risks within the departments and compliance with the standards ISO45001 for Health and Safety management systems.

The role is largely autonomous and therefore the ideal candidate will be highly organised, able to manage their time well and communicate effectively. Having a close attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work, whilst displaying flexibility and adaptability to problem solve and build relationships internally is essential.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop documentation to meet HS&W processes with assigned departments

  • Undertake assurance activities to confirm that HS&W requirements of the organisation are meeting legislative requirements, across the business departments

  • Develop and maintain the HS&W competence matrix

  • Assist in the management of the Health and Safety team, on specific tasks or when the Head of HS&W is on leave

  • Develop safety alerts, toolbox talks and essential and visual standards

  • Work with the Senior Managers in the organisation to deliver the Leadership Engagement programme of inspections for the office and site

This role would suit somebody who wants to support a business in the midst of in-depth changes to the way HSW is conducted. An engaging personality and an autonomous work attitude will be crucial to success, and experience from within construction or civil engineering would be highly advantageous.

Postholder Requirements:

  • Membership of IOSH or equivalent (GradIOSH)

  • CSCS card holder

  • NEBOSH Diploma (NVQ 5 level or equivalent)

  • Internal auditor qualification
