Planet Tracker is financially rooted think-tank, pooling the expertise of seasoned financial market professionals with environment, industry and scientific experts. https://planet-tracker.org/

Purpose: Our current model of finance continues to operate an extractive relationship with the planet that sustains us, failing to recognise critical ecological limits. To ensure a stable and sustainable future, we need to re-wire our financial system at a scale and speed not experienced to date so that it operates within environmental limits on land, in the air and in the sea while respecting social goals.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Head will be tasked with identifying material financial market exposures to planetary boundary related risks as it relates to Food & Land Use, as well to sovereign and corporate bonds and other areas of the debt market.

Building upon the very successful first studies (one of which has been award winning), the Head of Programme will deliver risk focused analysis examining the intersection of natural capital with finance in agriculture & food systems with a particular emphasis on soft commodities and deforestation, looking at the interplay between various fixed income instruments, equities positions and sustainability issues.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assist other Planet Tracker programmes with understanding and evaluating the role that fixed income instruments might have in engaging the financial markets on natural capital issues.

  • Synthesise findings from the research into ground-breaking analysis and ensure high level production of regular briefing papers and tracker reports for financial, corporate, political, media and academic audiences.

  • Responsible for designing and assimilation of Food & Land Use Programme yearly work plans and owning the implementation of content and strategy.

  • Building and maintain key relationships and networks among key financial, political and regulatory decision-makers.

  • Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and other fund-raising activities to develop the programme's activities.

  • Prepare and contribute to a range of research-based outputs, including briefing papers, reports, blogs, analysts notes and presentations

  • The Head is expected to minimise environmental impact in the performance of the role.
