Argent delivers some of the best mixed-use developments in the UK, including major commercial, residential, educational, cultural and community developments in the country's largest cities. They are involved in the full development process, from identifying and assembling sites, developing designs, and obtaining planning permission through to financing, project management of the construction process, letting, asset management and (sometimes) selling. Argent also manages and maintains buildings and estate.

Argent is on a search to identify their new Director of Sustainability, who will be the expert lead across the business, creating a vision, strategy, and delivery approach for sustainability. For Argent, Sustainability covers all things Environment, Economic and Social Value (including health and wellbeing) for today and tomorrow.

In addition to leading on Argent's evolving sustainability strategy, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading on the implementation of the Argent, Related Argent and King's Cross ESG strategy covering all phases of development from project conception to steady-state management.

  • Setting clear goals, objectives, and target metrics as part of these strategies - then delivering plans and measuring performance against targets set.

  • Developing an ambitious programme for the RA platform, including the RA approach to their communities and charity engagement.

  • Delivering succinct and effective measurement and reporting mechanisms for their investors, partners, and communities.

  • Leading and collaborating with partners and colleagues to deliver the sustainability components of the King's Cross business plan, including taking the King's Cross Estate from carbon neutrality to carbon net-zero.

  • Leading on the consistent measurement and evaluation of social value across Argent and Related Argent projects.

Argent is looking for an inspiring individual who is not only a thought leader but who can deliver tangible outputs through highly effective project and people management. You must be able to drive change through operating within the wider sector whilst collaborating with project CEOs to deliver meaningful outcomes on the ground.

You will bring a market-leading network to ensure their approach to sustainability remains at the forefront, realising its full potential, and may bring valuable knowledge of sustainability from outside of the real estate market.

You will also:

  • Be an acknowledged leader in sustainability in the real estate sector.

  • Act as a brilliant people manager who leads day-to-day, creating a high performing team that embodies their commitment to sustainability ethos through effective and innovative delivery

  • Provide visible leadership and communication skills with a high degree of strategic thinking, good judgement, and commercial awareness.

  • Drive to get things done in a sector with many ongoing debates/discussions, with the ability to see the wood for the trees.

  • Influence and make recommendations at a senior/Board level on areas from strategy to policy, governance, process, reporting and business planning.

  • Possess experience in providing thought leadership and presenting at high profile events and conferences.
