Acre is delighted to be working in partnership with an award-winning property manager and investor with operations in the UK and Central Europe. Its focus is on higher yielding commercial property with sustainable cash flow.

As a result of continued growth and to ensure their investment strategy is well aligned with their clients and the wider market, our client is looking to hire an experienced and highly commercial Sustainability Manager.

The purpose of this role is to lead and oversee all of firm's sustainability activities. The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for the strategic development and implementation of sustainability policies, together with meeting ESG compliance requirements, data collection and analysis, reporting and submission, as well as external benchmarking.

The scope of this role spans their real estate portfolios, managing agents and the activity/behaviour of the operational business.

Some key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, guiding and overseeing the strategy implementation and management of corporate and asset-level ESG initiatives

  • Leading ESG reporting, assessments, corporate sustainability policies and programmes

  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to deliver and promote their ESG agenda

  • Driving environmental efficiency initiatives and performance

  • Advising on green leases, sustainable acquisitions, disposals and development, green and healthy building certifications

  • Producing a strategy to reach Carbon Net Zero that is in line with the Paris Agreement

  • Identifying key potential ESG impacts and risks of proceeding with investing in particular properties, as well as advice on risk mitigation

  • Organising and completing the annual GRESB and CRREM submission and any other applicable ESG submissions

The new Sustainability Manager will lead all ESG efforts and initiatives in the UK and Europe, including:

  • Collaborating closely with the groups external service providers (property managers, third party consultants and other partner organisations)

  • Collaborating with in-house asset/fund management teams

  • Collaborating with external investor clients (including any in-house or third party ESG advisers that they may from time to time engage)

  • Raising their industry profile through industry forum participation and thought leadership (both written and direct to clients and consultants)

The successful candidate will apply their existing experience within a wide variety of ESG strategies, including:

  • Existing buildings and new development

  • ESG reporting, corporate social responsibility

  • Climate resilience, risk mitigation and adaptation

  • Net zero, decarbonisation and renewable energy

  • Building energy and water efficiency

Required functional experience:

  • Knowledge of environmental and social impact as it affects the real estate sector

  • Track record in delivering best in-class ESG policy, strategy, governance, process, and reporting

  • Experienced in developing and analysing metrics, tracking progress and reporting on relevant regulatory standards, industry frameworks and building standards, e.g., GRESB, GRI, UNPRI, INREV, TCFD, CDP, SASB, LEED, BREEAM, Fitwel, WELL

  • Understanding of regulatory policy and compliance requirements (EU)

  • Experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders at all levels to inform, energise and drive the ESG agenda and performance.
