Acre is delighted to partner with Ball Beverage Packaging to identify a Sustainability Manager to oversee their operations in the EMEA region. Part of Ball Corporation, Ball Beverage Packaging is the largest producer of beverage cans in the world. Putting technical know-how, passion and innovation at the heart of its business, Ball's ambition is to make the can the most sustainable beverage packaging.


Reporting into the VP of Sustainability, this role will work closely with regional customers, suppliers, industry associations, sustainability consultants, and other stakeholders in the EMEA region. You will be part of the sustainability team and work closely with Ball's Public Affairs team.

Contributing to the wider sustainability strategy for EMEA, you will focus on greenhouse gas emissions and the product's carbon footprint to ensure Ball and its customers' ambitious targets are met. You will bring experience of product Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to the team.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Leading on the development of customer-specific carbon roadmaps and responding to customer surveys and requests relating to greenhouse gas emissions, product carbon footprints, circularity, and additional sustainability KPIs

  • Developing relationships with internal teams building a deep understanding of wider organisational issues, challenging current processes and provoking new thinking

  • Maintaining Ball's Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) certification across the region and supporting customers in becoming ASI certified to increase the production of ASI-certified cans in the marketplace

  • Building and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring alignment on global greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water and waste targets

You will bring:

  • Demonstrable corporate responsibility or sustainability experience working with a physical product and reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint. On top of this, exposure to Life Cycle Assessment is important.

  • A strong technical understanding of recycling and waste, closed-loop, and circular economy principles

  • Relevant degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability or Waste Management, or comparable experience

  • Exposure to packaging, recycling or FMCG businesses

  • Experience of project/program management
