Are you currently working for a well-known brand, far along on its' journey to embedding sustainability operations into its main business strategy? It's been an amazing experience for you; you've been instrumental to getting sustainable operations to this point. You've learned a lot along the way; from the tiniest details and cultural nuances that can affect an entire plan from landing well, to how much people really care about doing the right thing and owning the outcomes.

As the programme has expanded and done what it needs to do, perhaps this has created more hierarchy, left less room for innovation and change in your role and removed you from the opportunity for wide and far-reaching engagement with lots of different people across all parts of the social and environmental value chain.

SailGP is offering you an opportunity to press the reset button and deliver a new kind of sustainability strategy; new, because the sport itself is new and aims to engage an entirely new generation of socially and environmentally conscious fans and make an impact in everything they do. You will accelerate change not just in sailing, where change couldn't come soon enough, but in sport, by leveraging best-in-class technological advancements and a worldwide community of individuals committed to building a culture that celebrates and leverages its differences in every territory.

  • You will be central to delivering not just the operational sustainability strategy, yet you will also be given the opportunity to leverage your flair for creative thinking around partnerships and new business

  • You will deliver SailGP's sustainability programme across its entire global league, including at host cities, across all events and within each national racing team.

  • You will own a budget and deliver all aspects of social & environmental programme management; embedding ISO20121, managing the carbon plan and auditing, internal training, and playing a part in the thought-leadership opportunities this will generate.

SailGP works hard to achieve an optimal work-life balance for its employees and a number of mechanisms exist to support its' people, such as 'no meetings Friday's' and more flexible home-working conditions in the current climate. However SailGP is a seasonal, global event; workload can be highly irregular leading up to events, meaning you'll be required to be available across multiple time zones and sometimes contribute outside of a typical 9-5 schedule.

Whilst working from home is the primary work location, the role will be eventually be required to frequent SailGP's London office on a regular basis, so please only express interest if you can make this schedule work & have the right to work in the UK.

In return, you will gain;

  • A support system including leaders with extensive experience integrating sustainability and purpose into every aspect of an organisations DNA; with hands-on, factual, science-based sustainability subject matter knowledge and with clear goals to understand and support the mental wellbeing of its workforce going into 2020/21

  • Autonomy, trust and empowerment to deliver your operational sustainability strategy

  • A fast-paced, autonomous, start-up-esque working culture with a flat, collaborative structure; instrumental to achieving rapid decision making that accelerates progress on time-sensitive issues such as global warming and biodiversity

  • Colleagues working towards shared values and outcomes committed to paper by the very people running the business; that prioritise people and planet to achieve profit

  • The opportunity to work in the only sector that truly enables the world to come together at the edge of a stadium, regardless of differences and enjoy something that transverses human barriers
