This pivotal role will lead the planning, management and implementation of sustainable and responsible sourcing in the biomass supply chains to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of sustainable energy.

Central to the business's sustainability objectives, Will Gardiner the Group CEO has announced; "Our intention is to become the world's first carbon negative company by 2030 by scaling up our pioneering biomass with CCS (BECCS) pilot project. This ambition will only be realised if the biomass we use makes a positive contribution to our climate, the environment, and the communities in which we operate."

The Sustainable Sourcing Manager will proactively promote responsible sourcing within the business, providing analysis and advising internal stakeholders on new feedstocks and their sustainability credentials.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence evolving relationships globally and drive continuous improvement and stewardship of biomass sustainability in partnership with a variety of stakeholders. Consequently, a collaborative and entrepreneurial style and will be valuable in driving your success in the role.

In this role you will be:

  • Leading responsibility for the implementation of the Drax Sustainable Biomass Policy at a supplier level, ensuring the management system is compliant with regulations and robust against audit with the aim of going beyond audit to industry best practice

  • Maintaining close relationships with global suppliers, to ensure visibility and influence through the supply chain is maintained

  • Measuring the impact of supply chain transparency, certification, and engagement to identify risks and mitigation plans through consideration of sustainability data and ESG risk assessments

  • Managing and building upon direct supplier relationships to ensure effective processes are in place to mitigate risks

Your experience will include:

  • Management of large or complex sustainable supply chains: direct environmental impacts, direct social and economic impacts, and indirect impacts

  • Ability to manage the end-to-end process of a supply chain, from onboarding through to supplier engagement as well as measuring ESG impact

  • Proven experience working with developing country and high-risk supply chains in new country territories

  • Proven experience in managing internal and external stakeholder relationships and working across global teams
