Global Head of ESG

Our client is a leading global growth equity firm with $50B+ in AUMs providing capital and strategic support for growth companies. With a substantial global footprint and deep sector expertise across technology, healthcare, consumer services, life sciences and financial services their extensive track record partnering with leading entrepreneurs and management teams to build exceptional businesses worldwide is unparalleled.

Based in New York or London, the global head of ESG will develop proprietary, actionable insights to support their thematic investment approach and their family of portfolio companies. To ensure close alignment with firm objectives, this leader will convene a global ESG steering committee consisting of senior members of the investment, investment support, and business operations teams.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Governance

  • Develop and implement the firm's strategic roadmap for Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) initiatives as it pertains to GA's investment strategy, its portfolio and its own operations

  • Serve as the firm's subject matter expert on ESG issues, trends and best practices

  • Convene a global ESG steering committee to elicit feedback and direction on ESG priorities

  • Develop and share best practices both internally with investment professionals and externally with portfolio company management teams and limited partners (LPs) to maximize impact and promote the ESG agenda (implementation and influence of various stakeholders)

Due diligence

  • Develop an ESG assessment framework and toolkit for evaluating new investments and oversee ESG due diligence workstreams for potential new investments when relevant

  • Provide training resources to investment professionals on key ESG issues in diligence

  • Ensure critical ESG priorities embedded into value creation plans for new investments

Portfolio

  • Monitor and track portfolio KPIs to support ESG awareness

  • Provide advisory support to portfolio companies on strategic ESG projects; scope, steer, and track ESG initiative implementation

Capital Partnering

  • Proactively develop strategic ESG insights to share with current and prospective limited partners (e.g., annual ESG report)

Qualifications & Skills

  • Prior experience in Private Equity, Venture Capital or multi-asset corporate is a plus

  • Deep knowledge of global standards related to ESG covering socially responsible investing and operations

  • Demonstrated effectiveness at working cross-functionally and across global teams

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of autonomy

  • Results oriented: Ability to thrive under ambiguity and time constraints to develop thoughtful, accurate insights

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills suitable to an environment that requires working closely with and influencing Senior Executives
