VP of Sustainability Overview

Spearheading all Sustainability functions at rePurpose Global to "productize" sustainability solutions that pioneer the world's foremost corporate sustainability- as-a-service ecosystem for the CPG industry.

As a rapidly growing, VC-backed social enterprise, we are seeking a VP of Sustainability to co-lead, mentor, and empower a 12-person sustainability team at rePurpose Global. In this capacity, you will directly collaborate with Aditya Siroya, Co-Founder & Chief Impact Officer to drive the team's strategy across product development, research and analysis, and ecosystem partnerships. You will also spearhead performance areas such as project management, team leadership, knowledge management, process optimization, and playbooking for scale. You will closely work with the directors of the 3 technical sustainability functions (Research & Analysis, New Product Development, Ecosystem Partnerships) and help continuously improve both the pace and quality of their teams' deliverables. In doing so, your goal is to initiate and nurture a "productization arm" within the organization to pioneer the world's foremost corporate sustainability-as-a-service ecosystem for the CPG industry.

Responsibilities

  • Define roadmap for new product development of sustainability offerings that add value to CPG brands across their value chain, ranging from footprint analysis tools, supply chain optimization engines, to crediting systems across environmental domains

  • Initiate and help directors create, execute, and continuously improve on important building blocks necessary for greater process autonomy and further team expansion (e.g., playbooks, knowledge repositories)

  • Set the tone for engaging strategically with circular economy and sustainability ecosystem partners across the world

  • Manage & develop internal processes for sustainability operations ensuring impact outcomes meeting international standards & certifications

  • Individually mentor directors and junior managers on intangible yet critical values such as learning, collaboration, leadership, stewardship, organization, and prioritization

You are a seasoned sustainability expert who have mastered the art and science of enabling businesses on a pathway to sustainability through years of exposure and experience in analyzing a diverse range of sustainability domains (carbon, plastic, water, LCAs). You are passionate about building scalable sustainability solutions, that can make sustainability truly accessible You are a natural team leader who not only thrive in both setting visions & ambitions that align with long-term business objectives but also are equally capable of & energized by both complex technical research and the day-to-day operations & optimizations associated with team & project management. What They Are Looking For

  • 8-10+ years of work experience in corporate sustainability (must-have), preferably with the CPG sector

  • 2+ years of experience in managing 5-10+ FTE teams (must-have)

  • Past work experience in relevant domains (corporate sustainability advisory, consumer goods sustainability strategy setting for in-supply chain reduction targets, or B2B SaaS tools for sustainability) and geographies (North America, Western Europe) strongly preferred

  • Profound understanding of sustainability in a global context (challenges & solutions within the plastics value chain) with deep skillsets in sustainability research and analysis

  • Strong verbal communicator capable of forming and nurturing key relationships with prominent business leaders and sustainability experts

  • Master's degree, ideally in Environmental Sciences or sustainability-related disciplines

  • Have a knack for devising targeted solutions to ambiguous, open-ended problems, with concrete experience in translating sustainability research into action

  • Quick learner with the ability to understand and distill down large amounts of technical concepts and information into clear and concise actionables

  • Adapt well to the fast-paced dynamic nature of a startup environment, with specific acumens such as rapid prototyping, resourcefulness, and creative problem solving

  • Possess an unparalleled attention to detail, even under time-sensitive environments

  • Passionate about creating change on the intersection of people, planet, and profit
