They are comprised of individuals from around the world with hands on agricultural, investing, and operational knowledge that complements their assets and the geographies they work in.

Position Summary

This is an opportunity to join the team as a dedicated Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Associate. This position will be working collaboratively across the firm and with agricultural assets located around the globe including Brazil, Chile, Peru, and the United States. As such, we are seeking someone who is excited about agriculture, sustainability, and traveling with excellent communication and organizational skills. The Associate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring ESG standards and practices across the current portfolio, as well as evaluating the ESG standards and practices of potential new investments. Additionally, the Associate will conduct annual audits in order to share best practices between portfolio companies, provide organizational support for each management team to ensure continual improvement in ESG conditions, as well as provide the firm with reports detailing the ESG conditions across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders including deal teams, compliance, portfolio operations teams, and investor relations

  • Maintain strong relationships with portfolio company counterparts, providing guidance to ensure continuous improvement and application of ESG conditions within each portfolio company

  • Conduct property and company level audits and regular monitoring, enabling the production of ESG reports for each portfolio asset

  • Assist the investment team in evaluating ESG risks and opportunities for potential new investments

  • Research, understand, and stay current on various international ESG and sustainability standards

  • Continuously develop and refine the internal ESG framework by producing written reports, presentations, and marketing materials

  • Implement and refine ESG policies, best practices, and reporting standards for agricultural portfolio companies

Key Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with exemplary academic credentials

  • 3+ years of post-college business experience in agriculture, forestry, environmental auditing, private equity, finance, consulting, or investment management is strongly preferred

  • Background in agriculture and sustainability is a plus

  • Presence and gravitas to interact with investment and operational teams at all levels

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Team player who prioritizes success of the team over individual achievements

  • Proficiency in Portuguese and/or Spanish

  • Willingness to travel at least 25%, including internationally, when it is safe to do so
