Acre has been retained by CodeGreen, one of the leading consultancies in the sustainability, commercial real estate and ESG space; to appoint an Associate Director who will lead the Sustainable Buildings team in New York.

Working with some of the largest and most sophisticated real estate investment organizations in the country, CodeGreen's vision is to lead the built environment to a healthy, sustainable, post-carbon future.

As Associate Director you will be responsible for the overall management of a department within the company, working with the leadership team and Executive Management to execute on CodeGreen's strategy and to manage up to 7 sustainability focused team members.

This role is primarily a people management-focused, leadership role and requires a commitment to the success of the Sustainable Buildings team; providing supervision, guidance and structure and prioritizing their needs above all else.

You will also be charged with ensuring that the team/department's execution strategy is aligned with CodeGreen's 5-year plan and will be empowered to structure the growth of the team and prioritize opportunities as market conditions and client needs evolve.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ultimate responsibility for project management, work quality and profitability within the Department

  • Manage resourcing within the Dept. to ensure staff are effectively utilized and staffing levels appropriate

  • Provide guidance and structure on overall project management requirements and practices for projects

  • Ensure all client communications and deliverables to clients meet CodeGreen's standards for quality, timeliness, and attention to detail

  • Responsibility for resourcing new projects to project delivery team

  • Ensure balanced workload for team members

  • Manage formal feedback process including mid-year reviews and annual formal review

We are looking for an individual with deep management experience including professional development, professional mentorship and experience working with teams that are early in their careers. You will also demonstrate the ability to establish and manage important client accounts and relationships, with strong communication and networking skills.

In addition, you will have:

  • Ability to work with strong personalities, maintain positive working relationships, communicate boundaries as needed to clients

  • Ability to hear and dissect client asks, get to root of issues or concerns

  • Ability to hear and match client needs with existing service lines

  • Deep interest in and passion for building careers and teams

  • Experience working within diverse teams

  • Experience interviewing and hiring, seeing team needs and advocating for filling those needs

  • Experience to understand when to flag and escalate issues and concerns

  • Base knowledge of corporate reporting and building certifications, technical proficiency a plus but not a deal breaker

  • General knowledge of ESG data management
