Named one of Fast Company's 10 most innovative companies in social good, Center for Active Design (CfAD) is a well-known non-profit in sustainable building design that was founded in 2013 using design to foster healthy and engaged communities through its certification product, Fitwel®.

To help grow and drive the implementation of ​Fitwel®, CfAD recently announced the creation of its new business unit, Active Design Advisors, Inc., (Adai). Adai will be responsible for promoting and administering the Fitwel® certification as it expands across key markets, as well as maintaining its best-in-class customer service.


Acre is supporting Adai to build out its sales, business development and marketing team and as part of this initiative, we are searching for a dynamic Business Development & Account Manager that will evaluate and identify existing and new clients in order to grow the business.


This role is responsible for overseeing business development efforts to new target clients and managing existing business. It involves prospecting, lead generation, contract negotiation, and account management.

As the Sales & Business Development Associate, you will:

  • Develop, execute, achieve, and maintain sales initiatives/goals based on senior management feedback, territory performance, and organizational goals

  • Manage existing accounts within the business

  • Split time between account management and new business development

  • Provide day-to-day support for new business and organic client growth functions/activities

  • Assist with prospecting new clients

  • Research industries/companies/contacts and craft strategic outreach.

  • Monitor performance metrics where applicable and identify areas for improvement and innovation.

  • Learn strategic business development and sales tactics through our daily meetings and how to effectively manage an account

  • Collaborate with the operations team and customers to evaluate account performance, identify refinements and improvements and implement solutions

  • Help keep us abreast of industry trends as well as the latest communication and outreach tools.

You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • Personal passion for helping to promote the healthy building movement

  • Bachelors degree or related

  • Minimum 3-7 years of work experience in a Sales or Business Development focused role

  • Relevant industry experience in proptech, urban planning, urban studies, public health, architecture, sustainability or a related field is a plus

  • Fast learner, curious mind, earnest collaborator

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines

  • Creative problem-solver, a self-starter with demonstrated good judgment, critical thinking, flexibility and resourcefulness
