You will join an expanding science-based, biodiversity monitoring start-up. Having just closed their Series A funding round and secured a new HQ in Guildford, the business is poised for strong growth.

NatureMetrics is a high growth medium sized company leading the revolution in molecular biodiversity monitoring, enabling environmental managers to measure and monitor biodiversity with DNA-based tools.



In the same way forensic DNA sampling is used on crime scenes, Naturemetrics offer similar technology to assess impacts on wild life genetics in projects across various sectors. We have grown rapidly over the last five years and have exciting plans for our future global growth.

The role will focus on working with key clients in the infrastructure sector and related industries including road, rail and construction. Experience in any of these industries and working on large infrastructure projects is essential. Further experience working with protected species legislation, biomonitoring, policy / licensing, the mitigation hierarchy, biodiversity offsetting and net gain will be a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities for the Business Development Manager:

  • Work with our Head of Financial Services and Risk to support the NM strategy

  • Develop business with the FS Sector in the areas we highlight as immediate opportunities as well as building longer term relationships

  • Support ongoing efforts to develop business in the sector through thought leadership, work with policy and standards setting bodies and other marketing and communications

  • Upholding NM standards of open, honest communications with all of our stakeholders

  • Build strong relationships with partners, collaborators and clients.

  • Engage closely with the wider team to stay up to date with the business strategy and create effective cross team working to deliver your objectives

What you need

  • Several years' experience working in/with the financial services sector

  • A background in ecology, biodiversity science, conservation or similar

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • An existing network of stakeholders in the sector

  • Experience working on environmental impact assessment projects

  • An understanding of environmental DNA and metabarcoding

  • Flexible working can also be agreed with the management team
