A market-leading, global carbon and climate change advisory consultancy is currently seeking a Director of Mexico in Mexico City.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual from a consultancy background, with excellent leadership and business development experience to lead the business in Mexico.

The decarbonisation agenda is increasingly becoming the guiding principle for governments and businesses around the world. But while there has been an explosion in commitments, there is a huge challenge to meet, and opportunity to seize, in converting those commitments into action.

As Director of Mexico, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of approx. 20 people based in Mexico City to develop new initiatives on this agenda for governments, corporates and financial institutions in Mexico and wider Latin America and ensure their effective delivery, driving impact in line with our mission.

This consultancy is a trusted, expert guide to net-zero, bringing purpose-led, vital expertise from the climate change frontline, supporting over 3,000 organisations in 50 countries with their climate action planning, collaborating with 150+ partners in setting science-based targets, and supporting cities across 5 continents on the journey to net-zero. From target setting, net-zero pathways, assurance and footprinting, to policy advice, strategy setting and programme delivery, we seek smarter ways to turn intent into impact, where sustainability and economic realities go hand in hand.

You will be responsible for:

  • Business development: Initiate and develop business opportunities that involve both carbon savings and revenue generation, in line with the business strategy in Mexico. Throughout the year, pre-position, champion, write, manage and/or participate in client proposals, leveraging and working collaboratively with internal experts from other offices and potential partners at the local and international level.

  • Team management: Provide direction and leadership for initiatives and projects, quality control outputs and help ensure that they meet or exceed client expectations. Line-manage the team in Mexico. Work collaboratively with the rest of the Group and partners and draw on/engage resources from other offices as needed. Monitor client satisfaction.

  • Financial management: Oversee the development of quarterly and annual financial statements and reports to the Board. Keep careful track of cash flow, including by keeping the monthly cashflow analysis updated, while also ensuring projects are delivered profitably and invoiced on time.

  • Representation: Provide speeches, presentations and media interviews that explain what does and market our work to Mexican and international organisations.

  • Strategy and reporting: Suggest and agree strategy and provide input to the wider international strategy. Provide regular reporting to London on direction and activity. Strategy will be signed-off by the Board.

  • Learning: Monitor the development of low carbon policy and technologies in Mexico and provide information to the London Office on the local situation and market potential. Keep track of policy announcements, publications and events on relevant topics including green finance, GHG accounting, carbon pricing, agriculture, energy efficiency, sustainable transport and renewable energy. Keep up-to-date with the development of new services and initiatives.

Admin and compliance: Ensure that the Office and team complies with the relevant accounting and legal regulations. Lead on health, safety and environment policies for all activity and employees. Ensure that policies including procurement, bribery and personal conduct are followed.
