Carbon Projects Portfolio Manager

Acre is working with UK's leading Carbon asset developer to help them hire a Portfolio Manager for Nature Based Solutions (NBS) and Energy projects. A pioneering firm that helped develop the global Voluntary Carbon Market, they are now the fastest growing carbon project developer in the UK and are working on some of the largest carbon offsetting projects in the world. Reporting into the Global Director of Project Development, this person will be leading the delivery of an international portfolio of NBS and Energy development projects, working closely with the business and project development teams.

You will be responsible for:

• Management of long-term contracts with project implementation partners to ensure that projects deliver the committed carbon and other benefits

• Regularly reviewing project status and outlook with project partners, making timely recommendations for actions required to resolve issues and mitigate risks

• Ensuring alignment of project stakeholders and capture commercial value, leading contract amendment negotiations with project partners where needed

• Visiting international project sites annually, putting pragmatic health and safety plans in place prior to project visits; facilitating project visits for client teams and clients as required

• Keeping up to date with changes in voluntary carbon standards and international (e.g. Article 6) and national policies in project host countries

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Significant experience in management of contracts or investments requiring an understanding of on-the-ground realities of delivering impact or conservation projects

• Experience in NBS or Energy carbon project development is an advantage but not essential, as is exposure to carbon markets. Desire to learn quickly about carbon project development and carbon markets is essential

• Experience in working in emerging markets with a variety of delivery partners including NGOs and entrepreneurial private companies, with an understanding of local stakeholder issues
